So, I got a call from one of the managers at my new job and found out that I was the top seller in the office with over $1000 in sales. That means I've hit my first promotion already and they're looking to see how I'm going to be ending what they call the fast start competition. Thing is, I have one person who has agreed to an appointment. The three that I had, they didn't really give me many referrals. And the referrals that I've got haven't answered the phone. The family that I talked to about setting up an appointment hasn't followed through (though I have to check my email since one has to do this over email anyway) and the other family member completely ignored me (which was awesome, yeah, since I knew he had his phone since he was texting my mom when I was texting him).


So, I don't know how this is going to go. My stepdad still wants to see the hunting knives and my mom said that his sister sounded interested (and she's looking for her own place so she'll need kitchen stuff, I figure) and starrydreaming said yes to an appointment (because she's awesome and knows that I get base pay for even having an appointment) but everyone else is pretty much avoiding setting a time up or they want prices first and don't care when I say that that comes during the appointment.


I'm frustrated since I can do demos over the phone using the internet and people can get things that way but that doesn't mean much when calls aren't being answered, etc. We're only allowed to advertise a certain way (like no taking out a billboard but I can make fliers and business cards, etc.) so I might give that a shot because this? This isn't working.


Wish me luck on getting more names or at least getting some people to actually agree to either a phone demo (it's watching videos, that's not even hard, darn it!) or a demo in person.


To top it off, we've got a team meeting tonight and I'm sick. These team meetings last 3 hours because the last part of them is usually getting on our phones and calling people about appointments. I'm hoping with the fact that I'm losing my voice that I can get out of there a bit early. Heck, maybe there's someone out there that needs to buy a gift for someone that's, I don't know, getting their own place or getting married or something. I can hope, right?

I've got a job interview on Monday at noon with a place that's right here in the same town that I live in. Well, at least the interview will be. I'm not even entirely sure what the job is since the ad didn't give details but it's for a marketing place so we'll see.

It just feels like a good start to the new year, especially since I just put in the application yesterday and they called me this morning. So, I'm hopeful. And I'm applying at the hospital too - a friend of my parents told me to apply and then to let her know when I do. If it makes me more money, that'd be amazing.

So, like I said, wish me luck for both of those!

I never would have known about this if it weren't for teagues_veil - who knew Kate Winslet could sing? I totally had no idea! And I like it. Huh. *watches*

It's ten minutes until Christmas and I spent Christmas Eve with the family - we rotate and this year, Christmas Eve was at my parents' house. And dinner was definitely yummy - tamales, beans, spanish rice, carne adovada, homemade tortillas, and then sweet rice for dessert, which is pretty much our tradition every year and then tomorrow it will be at my grandparents' house and that'll be ham, etc.

Then, I got home and wrapped presents while watching Jeff Dunham's Christmas Special. I got it on DVD a couple years ago and so it's now part of my tradition to watch it at this time of year. :D

So, I'm watching the first season of Glee and you know what I really miss? I miss Quinn from that season - the Quinn that totally stood up to Sue and blackmailed her to get a yearbook pic for Glee and then told her to take her Cheerios uniform and shove it. The Quinn that laughed and goofed off with Puck by messing with his mohawk like she did during Hell-O (hey, my OTP may be Puckleberry but I also loved seeing that side of her and they were pretty adorable back then). I miss the actual character development that happened with Quinn. And then this season it was all about getting her Cheerios uniform back and being popular again and then the whole Sam/Quinn/Finn storyline. *sigh*

And the other person I miss? I miss the Rachel that didn't need a guy. Oh, she wanted one, no mistake. But last night I watched her slap Finn and call him out on his lies and tell him that her dreams were bigger than him and OMG, what happened to that Rachel? I love that she got friends in season 2 and that she and Kurt finally stopped hating on each other and same with her and Mercedes. But when it came to the storyline for her and Finn, it felt like both characters were two completely different people. I hated who Rachel was when she was with Finn because it felt like she was constantly trying to please him and it felt like he was constantly trying to change her. What happened to that girl who was determined to get out of Lima and what happened to that guy who was, yes, worried about being popular but didn't act like he was perfect? The sesason 2 finale gave me a taste of that Rachel too when she told Kurt she was choosing New York and then they killed it by having her agree to date Finn for a year. Seriously? What the hell is the point of getting back together with someone with the condition that you're going to break up in a year so you can go do your own thing? Why not work on being friends instead so you can keep that once graduation happens?

This is what happens when I watch season 1. I remember why I loved these characters. I mean, I didn't hate season 2 but I think the first season was way better. Season 2 obviously had some good points but then other parts of it just felt like a total disaster.

Now, I'm going back to my DVDs so I can watch the back 9 and maybe by the end of it, I'll be in the mood to work on my big bang for Gleeverse.

So as of this weekend I made an offer on a house. I find out today or tomorrow if the bank is going to accept it or make a counter offe (or say no but totally not going there)r and, guys, I sort of fell in love with this house so keep your fingers for me! Good thoughts, vibes, prayers, whatever are also very much welcome! LOL.

I'm so nervous I thought I was going to throw up and ended up calling in to work. (Oh Lord, way to start off the year, Nic. Cue rolling of eyes at self....now.) But, yes, totally crossing my fingers and hoping that they accept or, at the very least, make a counter - which I'd be willing to go for because the only thing I really asked for was closing costs to be paid and I have a feeling they'll say no because it's bank owned but that's okay since I'd be willing to pay those anyway.

*deep breath* And now I have to go find a way to go kill time until the parentals are gone because I didn't actually tell them I was calling in so they think I went to work. Oops?

God, why do I start so early? I could totally be at a store. Instead I'm in my car and I've hijacked someone's internet until I think of a place to go for breakfast that I can go to.

It snowed here today and it was enough that my mom knocked on my door this morning and actually asked me to call in. (And well, who am I to argue? ~_^ )

Christmas party for work on Thursday night and I have NO idea what I'm going to wear. Gah. But! I have some fantastic shoes. Woo!

So, just yesterday I mentioned to authoressnebula how I thought Tony from NCIS and Dean are a lot alike.

And it seems the NCIS marathon on USA today is out to prove me right. Ha. I just watched Lost and Found, this ep from 2007, and the little boy in that is like a mini-Tony with the vid games and all that fun stuff and they even have a handshake at the end.

But what I just realized is that the kid is the same one that played Ben in season 3. Yes, mini-Dean Ben is also mini-Tony Carson on NCIS.
